• PHASE 3 - Our final phase is in progress. During this time we are addressing the finishing touches to the project. We have applied for and received approval from the City of Houston for participation in their Esplanade Program. We have worked with the City in refining surfaces, signage and street markings, and we continue to partner with them in project area improvements. We have begun to install bricks and donor plaques as part of our Commemorative Program, and we have returned to our funding goals specific to the originally planned sculpture and native gardens. In this phase WOW will begin and complete irrigation and final installation of shrubs, ornamental grasses and perennials that make-up the Five Native Gardens. Installation of the Native Grasses in the center island was completed by early Summer '09. WOW will design, provide and install interpretive signage for the native plants and trees. Of course, the highlight of this phase is the upcoming contracting and installation of the monumental “Light Garden” sculptures.
